Philosophy
What is Philosophy?
Philosophy is the practice of asking fundamental questions and reasoning carefully about the answers. Where other fields investigate specific parts of the world, philosophy examines the assumptions underneath them: What is knowledge? What is happiness? What makes an action right or wrong? It deals with questions that can’t be settled by experiment alone, so it relies on argument, clear definitions, and attention to counterexamples.
Philosophy is traditionally divided into several major branches, each focused on a different set of questions.
